Screen Print
This piece was my first time working with screen printing, so it introduced me to a completely new way of creating art. I started by sketching the tiger and had to think carefully about positive and negative space and which areas would actually be printed. From there, I learned how to create a screen, use the printing machine, and transfer my design onto different materials. Given my love for fashion, I wanted to take the project a step further and turn my print into something wearable. Seeing my original drawing become a design on a T-shirt and tote bag showed me how art can be used beyond a traditional canvas and combined with my other interests.
For this print, my goal was to create my own wearable design. I started by sketching the tiger and thinking carefully about positive and negative space, and which areas would actually be printed. From there, I learned how to create a screen, use the printing machine, and transfer my design onto different materials. I loved seeing my original drawing become a design on a T-shirt and tote bag, and next time I aim to create a repeat print.
