Inspiration

I created this conceptual design collection, inspired by masquerade balls and the idea of wearing a mask to conceal your identity. I started by researching modern and historic fashion references, creating mood boards, and choosing a fashion house that paralleled my concept. Alexander McQueen inspired my collection most because his brand uses fashion for expression and storytelling rather than just clothing. After creating a complete concept, I developed original silhouettes through 2D and 3D collage studies. Using these initial designs, I made preliminary and final sketches from the silhouette study. Afterward, I brought these ideas to life by constructing drape studies. This project was very exciting for me. I loved learning about the creative process fashion designers use to develop concepts, and I particularly enjoyed draping fabrics and fashion drawing. I cannot wait to start studying fashion in college.
