Brooklyn in Bloom
Acrylic 24x18
For this piece, I was inspired by a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and wanted to create my own interpretation of the flowers I saw there. I used acrylic paint mixed with a thickener and applied it with a palette knife to create a raised, textured surface. I chose pastel colors to give the painting a soft, dreamlike feeling while still letting the flowers stand out. I enjoyed experimenting with a new way of using acrylic paint and learning how texture can add more depth and movement to a painting.

Brooklyn in Bloom
Acrylic 24x18
A trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens inspired this painting. I wanted to study a vine of lilies up close in depth. My goal was to make the flower feel as life-like as possible. I used vivid pastel colors and experimented with paint thickener, adding it to the acrylic paint, which I applied to the canvas with a pallet knife in order to create a raised textural and realistic surface.
