Changing Form

Charcoal on paper 18x24

For these live model gesture drawings, the model changed positions every ten minutes, constantly giving me new angles and perspectives of the human body to work from. With a limited amount of time for each pose, I learned to begin with simple lines to quickly capture the shape and movement of the figure before gradually adding more detail. I enjoyed the challenge of working quickly and learning how just a few lines can begin to communicate the form and position of the body.

Changing Form

Charcoal on paper 18x24

For these live gesture drawings, the model changed positions every 10 minutes, giving me new angles and perspectives of the human body to work from. With limited time for each pose, I learned to start with simple lines to quickly capture the figure's shape and movement before gradually adding detail. What I like most about this piece is how the three figures are positioned on the paper, creating a sense of space while also giving it an abstract feel.
