Pitcher & Pears
Oil on canvas 18x24
For this still life, my goal was to make the objects feel more realistic. Using dramatic lighting, I tried to create extreme highlights and shadows to make the piece more dimensional and balanced. Doing this helped me understand how light interacts with different shapes and surfaces. I also found that subtle changes in value can make objects appear more realistic.

Pitcher & Pears
Oil on canvas 18x24
For this still life, I used oil paints to focus on creating realistic form, light, and shadow. I am especially proud of the balance I created between the different colors and objects and how the highlights and shadows give them a sense of dimension. This piece helped me better understand how light interacts with different shapes and surfaces and how small changes in value can make objects feel more realistic.
