Sitting Man

Charcoal on paper 24x18

For the "Sitting Man," I worked from a live model and challenged myself by drawing him from below eye level. This perspective allowed me to focus on details I might not have noticed from a more traditional viewpoint, which helped me tackle proportions. I also found the folds of his garments particularly interesting.  I loved the way his baggy clothing hung off his body, and I wanted to bring that dimension and depth to the paper through light and shadow.

Sitting Man

Charcoal on paper 24x18

For this drawing, I worked from a live model and decided to challenge myself by drawing him from below eye level. This perspective allowed me to focus on details I may not have noticed from a more traditional viewpoint and pushed me to think differently about proportion and the human form. By paying close attention to the shadows, folds in his clothing, and positioning of his body, I was able to create more depth and dimension throughout the piece.
